About Eco-Profiles

Eco-Profiles™ has been identified by Ashoka as a "world-changing solution".  Eco-Profiles was one of the first patents processed through a first-of-its-kind United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) patent law school initiative with William Mitchell Law School (St. Paul, MN). Eco-Profiles is an easy-to-use patented solution that provides an environmental ‘action plan’ for all members of society - and Eco-Profiles provides tools to communicate you or your business's environmental efforts in a consistent format: online, on social media, on packaging, and in the marketplace.  Eco-Profiles provides a list of the benefits of each action and a list of resources to help people and organizations achieve each action.  Furthermore, Eco-Profiles declutters the endless sea of green certifications and green seals.  Eco-Profiles also acts as a clearinghouse, so consumers will not only see a list of the actual actions of the profiler, but they can also learn what eco-certifications that business has earned and what those certifications mean. Eco-Profiles also helps consumers learn more about sustainability reporting, such as ESG, CDP and COP27 commitments, etc. Additionally, much like many online sites today, to help with the integrity of information presented, an online public comment/review and rating feature is included with each business's Eco-Profile and a screening process is included to protect businesses against trolls and unfounded comments.  Eco-Profiles drives market share to businesses and organizations that are legitimately doing more to improve their impact on the environment and being transparent about it.  Eco-Profiles is the first and only solution to finally eliminates the ambiguity and confusion surrounding sustainability and eliminates the potential for greenwashing.  Eco-Profiles has a viral component that incentivizes and rewards those who create an Eco-Profile and gives credit or recognition to those who inspired them to do so.

About the Founder

The founder of Eco-Profiles™, Mitch Hedlund, is a social entrepreneur who has created other U.S. and global environmental solutions, including the first and only society-wide standardized labeling solution for recycling and compost bins to help people be able to recycle properly wherever they are.  Mitch created the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Recycle Across America (RAA), which has now implemented nearly 10 million of the standardized labels on recycling bins throughout the U.S.  The society-wide standardized labels on bins have been referred to by the New York Times as "one of the most important environmental fixes taking root today" and the labels are proven to be the most effective solution available at this time to fix the recycling crisis in the U.S. and globally. Mitch Hedlund has been a keynote speaker at the European Union Sustainability Summit, at the United Nation's Sea of Solutions, and at many international sustainability conferences.  Mitch has earned a global Ashoka fellowship for these environmental global solutions.

Here are four reasons why Eco-Profileswas created:

1.  The Eco-Profiles solution was created because ...
environmental progress hasn't been happening fast enough
and climate change is happening too fast.

2.  The Eco-Profiles solution was created because ...
sustainability has been unnecessarily confusing for everyone.  Watch these street interviews (click on video to start):

Progress hasn't been fast enough.

3.  The Eco-Profiles solution was created because ...
consumers care but they have never had an easy way of knowing what businesses are doing environmentally and therefore, they have never had a way to use
marketshare to change the world.  Until now.

Studies show consumers are confused by green and skeptical.png

4.  The Eco-Profiles solution was created because ...
when inactive businesses begin to feel the threat of losing customers to businesses that are more environmentally active, they will start doing more environmentally.
And progress will be expedited.
